My employer is a member.  Ironically, that may limit my ability to directly participate.  One can imagine an independent invited expert participating casually and sporadically, but not an employee of a multinational behemoth.

All in all, I’m not convinced that the W3C quite gets openness yet.

Ian’s instructions have been updated to state:

if you’re employed but your employer doesn’t know you’re doing this, or doesn’t care, just pick “My employer does not intend to join”.

Unfortunately, it seems that the W3C patent policy doesn’t allow this.
