Wordpress Atom Futures
Matthew Mullenweg: I’m thrilled to announce that Version 2.3 “Dexter” of WordPress is now ready for the world ... if you’re a developer you’ll be interested in: 1. Full and complete Atom 1.0 support, including the publishing protocol.
It certainly is a dramatic improvement. And it was fun to be a part of the process. But full and complete?
From the format side, I’d like to see support for a feature you see on the WordPress Codex. Namely a checkbox that says “This is a minor edit”. Such a feature could reduce the amount of times an entry show up your feed reader after somebody goes back to fix a few typos.
On the protocol side, I’d like to see support for foreign markup.
Internally, I’d like to see a little code cleanup. Atom entries are produced in two places, and consumed in two places. It would be nice to consolidate this a bit.
