It looks like Sanjiva announced his leaving IBM while I was on vacation.
For the last six of his seven and half year tenure at IBM, Sanjiva has either directly or indirectly been responsible for pretty much everything I have been involved in professionally. The first project that we worked on together led to my involvement with PHP, the second led to my involvement with the ASF. In return, I’ve led Sanjiva into open source and weblogging.
As Danese Cooper, who made her own transition while I was away, aptly put it: Although global, the internet makes this is a very small playground of an industry.
I’m confident that I will have plenty of opportunities to interact with both in the upcoming months and years — and I am very much looking forward to it.
